Help Feed Children This Summer | Support MUNCH | The River Food Pantry

Help us provide 30,000+ healthy lunches to children in Dane County this summer!

Summer vacation is near. That means thousands of children in our community will no longer receive free lunch from school. Without reliable access to healthy lunch, these children could lack the nutrition they need to develop mentally and physically.

This summer, you can help feed children (who might otherwise go hungry) by supporting MUNCH, The River Food Pantry’s mobile lunch program.

MUNCH (Madison Unites to Nourish Children at Home) provides free healthy lunches to children, teens, and their caretakers in 8 local low-income neighborhoods on nonschool days throughout the year.

From June 13 to September 1:

  • The River’s MUNCH van will be out distributing about 419 nutritious lunches per day.
  • On average, each MUNCH lunch will cost The River $1.50.
  • To serve over 33,500 MUNCH lunches for the 80 days of summer vacation, The River will spend $50,000.

Your “MUNCH-needed” support will help provide the quantity and quality of nutrition that children need to grow academically and socially. When you give to MUNCH, 95 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to those we serve.

Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and for helping us end childhood hunger this summer.
