John McCracken – Grants & Donor Data Coordinator | The River Food Pantry

I joined The River in the Spring of 2018. I previously worked with Wisconsin Public Television, The Literacy Network in Madison, and the Wisconsin Historical Society Press. I am excited to be working with The River as this organization is vital to the area. I joined The River to put my skills with writing, communications, and marketing to good use in the city of Madison.

First and foremost, I am a writer. I graduated with a BA in Creative Writing and have gone on to publish poetry and nonfiction writing in various journals and freelance outlets. I am excited to be using my skills to capture the voice of The River. I look forward to advocating for The River through grant writing and research, social media strategy, and donor relations. I never want to stop learning about how to be a better writer and how my skills can make a difference in the world.

When I am not writing, I listen to an odd variety of music, read books, play board games and card games, and try and enjoy the nice weather. I spend most of my time with my wife, best friend, and partner in shenanigans, Katie. We can be found watching an unhealthy amount of bad television or wrangling our goofy and talkative cat, Mac.
