Please Contact Your Alder Before Nov. 14 to Support The River | The River Food Pantry

Dear Friends of The River,

The Madison Common Council is preparing to vote on the 2023 city budget, including an amendment allocating $1 million to help fund the future construction of a new building for The River. Since this is an amendment to the currently proposed budget, at least 11 members of Common Council need to vote in favor of it—and we need your help to persuade them!

Before Nov. 14, I request that you submit a letter of support to the specific alder(s) who represent you or who you are familiar with. To make this as quick and easy as possible, The River has drafted these template letters to which you can simply add your name and address and submit via mail or email.

Of course, you are also welcome to adapt the template as you see fit or to compose a wholly original letter of support—both the number of letters and the enthusiastic investment of community members improves the likelihood of municipal support. If you do choose to compose your own letter and submit it electronically, please just remember to clearly state that you are supporting The River in the subject line of the email as well as the letter itself.

On behalf of The River, thank you so much for your vital support as we continue building towards our vision of a stronger, fully-nourished community! Please see below for more information on how you can find your alder and contact members of the Common Council.

With gratitude,

Rhonda Adams
Executive Director, The River Food Pantry
