Slumberland Furniture Donates Mattress Sets to The River Food Pantry for Dane County Children and Families | The River Food Pantry

Homes for the Holidays donation event to take place Dec. 14 at Slumberland’s Madison East location

MADISON, Wis. — December 11, 2019 — In celebration of their annual Homes for the Holidays event, Slumberland Furniture’s Madison East store will donate 46 brand new mattresses, box springs and bed frames on Saturday, December 14 to The River Food Pantry for local children and families in need. Reynolds Transfer & Storage has generously offered to deliver the beds to each household free of charge.

“We are grateful to partner with Slumberland and Reynolds to distribute new beds to families in need,” said Charles McLimans, President and CEO of The River Food Pantry, which serves over 1,000 Dane County households every week. “Many families with children who rely on The River for food and resources will be thrilled to hear that they will receive beds of their own just in time for the holidays. What a wonderful and generous gift!”

For nearly three decades, Slumberland Furniture’s annual Homes for the Holidays program has donated brand new mattress sets to charity partners for children and families who are sleeping on the floor and are in need of beds.

“We’re pleased to have helped so many children by giving them a bed, improving their lives with healthy sleep during the last 28 years,” said Slumberland founder Ken Larson. “Knowing we still have an incredible number of children without a bed means we have a lot of work left to do, which inspired the birth of the 40 Winks Foundation, partnering throughout the year to help children sleeping on the floor receive a new bed of their own.”

One of Slumberland’s core values is giving back to the community and the company has given away over 40,000 beds to local charities to distribute since 1991. Together, all our Slumberland stores will deliver over 2,700 bed sets to children and families this December.
