When you walk through our doors, you’re greeted by a smiling face—no matter who you are. People who visit The River—for assistance or to help others—come from all walks of life.
When we have a chance to use introduce our space to new visitors, we are thrilled to hear what they learn from their trip. After we won a contest through Home Savings Bank this past summer, we were excited to have two executives stop by to see our mission in full effect.
“After taking a tour of The River Food Pantry, it’s clear why it’s the busiest food security center in the county. Though they are quickly outgrowing their space, The River is a hub for the community to gather, break bread, and bring home groceries, clothes and resources to help fill the economic gaps they may be facing.” – Jim Bradley, President, Home Savings Bank
Inside The River, you can see our clients enjoy a community meal before shopping for groceries and clothing, leaving with full carts and even fuller hearts. You might also notice that our mission extends beyond our walls. Volunteers and staff can be found preparing for a weekend of mobile lunch deliveries with MUNCH.
“The River even takes their fight against hunger on the road by delivering lunches to kids in neighborhoods this summer. It’s an invaluable resource for so many families during the school break.” – Matt Rosenthal, Executive Vice President – Commercial Banking, Home Savings Bank
In 2017, we provided $894,085 worth of clothing, furniture, and household items to our clients. At The River, we aim to treat everyone who enters our doors with respect, compassion, community, caring, and generosity.
“The River Food Pantry has thought of everything. Even the flower arrangements on their Friday night tables can be taken home and enjoyed by the families who come for community meals.” – Jim Bradley, Home Savings Bank President
We believe that all is given to us as a gift, and through the beauty of sharing all will have enough. Come share in our vision of a fully nourished community. Schedule a tour of The River or volunteer today!
