The River Food Pantry Earns 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator for 4th Consecutive Year | The River Food Pantry

MADISON, Wis. — February 2, 2022 — The River Food Pantry has been awarded their 4th consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.

A 4-star rating is the highest possible assessment awarded, and it is based upon key indicators of financial health, accountability, and transparency. Charity Navigator has become the nation’s most-utilized evaluator of aid organizations, assessing over 9,000 American charities to date.

“It’s important that our donors trust that we’re using their donations wisely to nourish our Dane County neighbors in need,” said Rhonda Adams, Executive Director of The River. “Our consecutive 4-star Charity Navigator ratings demonstrate to our supporters our good governance and financial accountability.”

The River’s mission is to provide food, resources and faith to build a stronger community. As the busiest food pantry in South Central Wisconsin, The River serves over 1,000 households every week through its combined programs. With only 2.5% in administrative costs, 97.5 cents of every dollar donated to the pantry goes to its programs and services.

“The River Food Pantry’s exceptional 4-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” according to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only 21% of the charities we evaluate have received at least 4 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that The River outperforms most other charities in America.”

In addition to a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, The River is also a GuideStar Platinum-rated charity. For more information or to donate to The River, please visit riverfoodpantry.org.
