Charity Navigator 4-star badge

This rating designates The River as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, indicating that our organization is using its donations effectively based on Charity Navigator’s criteria.

The River Food Pantry has been awarded its 6th consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-utilized independent charity evaluator.

A 4-star rating is the highest possible assessment awarded, and it is based upon four key indicators: Impact & Results, Accountability & Finance, Culture & Community, and Leadership & Adaptability.

“Our consecutive 4-star Charity Navigator ratings are further validation that our supporters can trust our commitment to good governance and financial health,” said Rhonda Adams, Executive Director of The River. “We hope that it will introduce our work to new supporters who can help us grow to meet the increasing need for food throughout Dane County.”

The River’s mission is to provide food, resources, and faith to build a stronger, fully-nourished community. As the busiest food pantry in South Central Wisconsin, every week The River serves over 2,500 people — and counting as demand continues to grow. With only 5% in administrative costs, 95 cents of every dollar donated to the pantry goes to its programs and services.

“We are delighted to provide The River Food Pantry with third-party accreditation that validates their operational excellence,” said Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “The Four-Star Rating is the highest possible rating an organization can achieve. We are eager to see the good work that The River Food Pantry is able to accomplish in the years ahead.”

In addition to a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, The River is also a GuideStar Platinum-rated charity. For more information or to donate to The River, please visit riverfoodpantry.org.
