The River Ride: A Charity Bike Ride Supporting The River Food Pantry | The River Food Pantry

A scenic ride on April 26 through the Sugar River Valley to help fight hunger in South Central Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. — March 10, 2025 — Cyclists and community members are invited to gather on Saturday, April 26 for The River Ride, a new charity bike ride supporting The River Food Pantry. Starting at Seven Acre Dairy Company in Paoli and concluding at Bailey’s Run Vineyard and Winery in New Glarus, this event will offer participants the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Sugar River Valley while raising funds to nourish the rising number of local households experiencing food insecurity.

“The River Ride is an exciting new opportunity to bring our community together in support of a cause that touches so many lives,” said Rhonda Adams, Executive Director of The River, South Central Wisconsin’s busiest food pantry. “Every pedal stroke will help us provide vital food and resources to those in need, and we are grateful for the support of every rider, volunteer, and donor who makes this event possible. Special thanks to Seven Acre Dairy Company for bringing this amazing idea to life!”

The River Ride is designed for cyclists of all levels, as well as those who prefer to support the cause without riding. The 18.5-mile route meanders through the stunning Wisconsin countryside, dotted with spring-fed creeks, small family farms, and protected natural areas, all on low-traffic roads.

“We wanted to do something at Seven Acre to help address rising food insecurity throughout Dane County,” said Nic Mink, Proprietor of Seven Acre Dairy Company. “This scenic ride will offer something for everyone and supports The River’s vision of a fully nourished community.”

Registration options are available for one-way and round-trip bikers, as well as non-biking supporters. The cost is $85 for all participants, regardless of registration type.

Registration will include a breakfast bar and after-party with live music at Seven Acre Dairy Company, as well as a buffet lunch, draft beer or house wine, and live music at Bailey’s Run Vineyard and Winery. Proceeds directly benefit The River.

“Join us for a day of fun, fitness, and philanthropy as we ride for The River to help nourish our Dane County neighbors in need. Whether you’re pedaling or supporting, your participation will make a difference!” Adams said.
