ePantry: Food Pantry Online Ordering System

The River is thrilled to offer a food pantry online ordering system, called ePantry! Once a month, households have the option to order their groceries online. Based on household size, families select from a variety of healthy and nutritious food, including fresh produce, meat, dairy, culturally relevant offerings, and special dietary options, such as vegetarian and gluten-free items.

Designated pick-up times are available Tuesday through Thursday. Clients who are homebound can still access ePantry and have their groceries delivered through River Delivers, a free delivery service for those who are unable to visit the pantry. Please note: Delivery orders cannot be placed using the ePantry pickup form. For delivery, contact epantry@riverfoodpantry.org.

NOTE: Online orders can be placed from Friday at 5 PM through Tuesday at 11:59 PM.

To qualify for ePantry, you must:

  • Live in Dane County
  • Meet TEFAP eligibility and income guidelines
  • Verify with The River (in person, online or via email) within the last year your current address and names/birthdates for each household member

Please click here to sign up for ePantry.

You will be contacted within 3 business days with either:

  • Confirmation that you have been successfully added to the ePantry program; or
  • A request to complete a renewal or full registration of your account information online. (Pre-registration can be completed over the phone if you show address and member documents at your first visit.)

If you need groceries sooner, please consider visiting us at our standard curbside grocery distribution.

After you are signed up, click the “Place Pick-Up Order” button above to place an order.

After submitting your order, you will receive a confirmation email within 3 business days confirming your pick-up day/time and the contents of your order. It will also directions for how and where to pick up your order.

Your next order can be completed in the next calendar month. You will use the same “Place Pick-Up Order” button to place subsequent orders. The form can also be accessed here.

Please note: Delivery orders cannot be placed using the ePantry pickup form. For delivery, contact epantry@riverfoodpantry.org.

  • Only one (1) ePantry order is allowed per household per month.
  • During the week of your ePantry pick-up or delivery, you cannot receive additional groceries through The River’s standard curbside distribution or River Delivers. However, you are still welcome to pick up to-go meals from FAM (Family At-Home Meals) throughout the week.

If you have questions, please contact our ePantry Coordinator at epantry@riverfoodpantry.org or (608) 442-8815 ext. 7.

ePantry FAQs

For New Clients

When can I place an order?

You may place an order for pick-up between Friday at 5:00pm–Tuesday at 11:59pm after your household has been registered, or renewed if needed.

How many orders can I place?

Only one (1) ePantry order is allowed per household per month. This takes the place of one of your visits to The River.

If you place an ePantry order for the week, standard curbside groceries are not available to you for that week. You are still welcome to pick up to-go meals from FAM (Family At-Home Meals) throughout the week.

Example: If you pick up your ePantry order this week (Tuesday–Thursday), you cannot receive curbside or delivered groceries until next Tuesday.

Can I have my ePantry order delivered?

Yes, a limited number of ePantry orders can be delivered to households that are registered as clients of River Delivers. See if you qualify and register here. If you are interested or have questions about deliveries of online orders, please contact epantry@riverfoodpantry.org.

Are there any limits on what I can order?

Yes, non-perishable items (which are marked with a * on the order form) have the following limits:

  • Household of 1–2: 25 items
  • Household of 3–4: 35 items
  • Household of 5–6: 45 items
  • Household of 7+: 55 items

Perishable items do not count toward household limits! However, some very large orders (over 100 lbs) may need to be slimmed down due to limited space.

Delivery orders are limited to 60 lbs.

For Current Clients

When and where is pick-up?

ePantry order pick-ups occur outside of The River’s Curbside Grocery Distribution hours. Typically pick-ups are available each week on Tuesday from 4–6pm, Wednesday from 9–11am, or Thursday from 7:30–9am. You will receive a confirmation email around 48 hours before your selected window describing where the pick-up location is and what you need to bring. If you miss your scheduled ePantry pick-up without giving us notice within 24 hours of the scheduled time, we may not be able to fulfill your order.

How do I cancel or change my order?

Please contact (608) 665-0232 or epantry@riverfoodpantry.org 24 hours before your scheduled pick-up or delivery to make cancellations or changes.

What if I can no longer make my confirmed pick-up time?

Please call (608) 665-0232 as soon as you know that you won’t be able to make your time. We may be able to reschedule your pick-up during a different ePantry distribution time (Tuesday from 4–6pm, Wednesday from 9–11am, or Thursday from 7:30–9am). However, we cannot fulfill pick-up orders during The River’s Curbside Grocery Distribution hours.

If you do not call and miss your pick-up, you will need to talk to the ePantry Coordinator before placing another order. You will not be able to place an order for that month without calling first.

What if I need something that isn’t on the order form?

Please add any items in the “Additional Comments” field at the bottom of the order form. We will do our best to accommodate.
