HOPE Holiday Food Drive 2024

Everyone deserves to enjoy a holiday meal, but not all can afford it in Dane County.

You can help. By supporting The River Food Pantry’s HOPE (Help Other People Eat) Holiday Food Drive, you will not only provide nutritious food to fill bellies over the holidays, you will help our food-insecure neighbors celebrate the season in ways that bring hope.

For every $10, you will fill a plate with a freshly prepared holiday meal. For $50, you will provide a bountiful variety of holiday groceries for a family of five. Last year, HOPE supporters brought hope, holiday joy, and smiles to over 2,500 Dane County households throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas.

When we asked for feedback on our holiday groceries and meal, clients shared:

  • “We were shocked at the variety of holiday grocery items distributed. Everything exceeded our expectations. The turkey we received was huge! The holiday meals were delicious and seemed to be gourmet by our standards!”
  • “So wonderful to be able to provide holiday meals to so many that wouldn’t have a nice meal.”
  • “Loved the extra options and choices. It was something to look forward to over the holiday season.”
  • “It helps me out greatly. I can have a couple of people visit so I’m not alone.”
  • “We would have never been able to have a holiday meal if The River didn’t provide for us. Since my daughter died, it’s been so hard.”
  • “It helps the family a lot, especially during these hard times. It helps save some money for rent and bills.”

As the need for food soars in 2024, The River expects to serve record numbers this holiday season—the pantry’s busiest time of year. By giving to HOPE, you will help local children, seniors, veterans, and low-income families celebrate the holidays with delicious, quality food that makes the season bright.

To give by check, please mail checks with the word “HOPE” in the memo to: The River Food Pantry, 2201 Darwin Road, Madison, WI 53704
