We are looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented part-time Communications Coordinator to join our team to develop, execute, and monitor all digital communications with the focus on building visibility in the community and engaging donors, volunteers and clients in our work. This position is part-time at 20 hours per week with workdays of Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
The Communications Coordinator responsibilities include:
- Social Media and Website Management: execute social media initiatives; lead content creation; monitor The River’s social media presence; manage the organization’s website; develop, monitor and report on key metrics to track effectiveness of online media strategies; and produce videos/photos of all programs.
- Communications Support: communicate operational changes to clients in a timely manner; review and edit development materials; write compelling stories by conducting interviews and capturing testimonials from various partners to post on digital media channels; support fundraising efforts through integrated marketing platforms; design graphics and marketing materials; and serve as a representative of The River at community events and presentation opportunities.
- Media Outreach: build and maintain relationships with media outlets; and identify and write compelling stories about The River’s mission and goals to pitch to television, radio, print and online media sources.
In the Communications Coordinator role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing or Communications is preferred
- 2+ years’ experience in a communications or social media role is preferred.
- Experience with website management and social media relations is required (knowledge of WordPress is preferred).
- Graphic design experience using Adobe Creative Suite is required.
- Multilingual is preferred.
- Commitment and passion for The River’s mission, vision, and goals.
- Ability to work with a broad group of people.
- High proficiency to communicate (verbal and written) information clearly and understandably.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms.
- Strong relationship building and networking skills.
- Ability to communicate information clearly and understandably through interactions with staff, volunteers, clients, donors, community, and media.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong proof-reading and editing skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage time effectively.
- Superior prioritization, workload balancing, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and produce quality work within tight time constraints.
- Ability to work occasional weekends and/or evenings as required.
- Ability to accept responsibility for actions, decisions, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Background and DMV check are required.
